WEB SERIES & SHORT FILMS
Here are a few web series and films that were written, produced and directed by Jessica Robinson.
Rebranding Andi
|
Rebranding Andi is a web series about Andi, a 29-year-old kickass career woman who was dumped by her boyfriend of six years last year and has since stuck her head in the sand as far as men are concerned. Her ex is the only man she ever really dated in NYC, so despite being an adopted New Yorker, she’s a total rookie at dating in the concrete jungle. A lot has changed since her single life before him, so she’s got her work cut out for her.
Luckily she has her two best friends from college to guide her through this laughable journey. Danielle and Talia each have their own philosophies on dating, and they couldn't be more different. Well-intentioned as they may be, time will tell if either or both of them have the right approach to rebrand Andi. You can watch season one at www.rebrandingandi.com. |
TexSINS
When Eve is dumped by her boyfriend of 5 years, she decides that she needs some time away in Texas. Her alone time is soon interrupted when she is met by her guardian Angel and Devil. It's going to be one HELL of a HOLYday.
The 7 episodes of TexSINS were written in 7 days, filmed by a crew/cast of 3 in 3.5 days while on "vacation" in Texas. We filmed, not with a low budget, but NO budget. Enjoy! Watch the TexSINS series at https://vimeo.com/channels/texsins. |

PENT UP
|
You unlock the door to this apartment with the key of warped logic. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension void of sanity, ethics, and peace of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadowed morality and substance abuse, of things and ideas and misused kitchen utensils. Five housemates and 5,000 mis-adventures. Welcome to the penthouse!
NYC is a constant source of entertainment and my apartment is no exception. Pent Up is a web-mini-series, inspired by the everyday occurrences in my Bushwick penthouse apartment with my four housemates. Part Twighlight Zone / part Dumb and Dumber ...there's never a dull moment! Watch the PENT UP series at https://vimeo.com/channels/pentup. |

A semi-sweet chocolate chip tale about the kindness of strangers.
NYFA Januray Section E 35mm Production Workshop. That's right 35mm film! After a week of lessons we were let loose with 1000ft of film to shoot a short film. So in 4 days we had to write a script, devise a shot list and lighting scheme, learn how to use the camera, cast actors, rehearse and since the camera couldn't leave the NYFA studio we had to create the set for this film too! I sincerely thank my classmates, teachers, crew and cast, for helping bring my script to life. Great team and unforgettable experience. |

The Chekhovian project required us to direct a brief page of dialogue (provided by the instructor) that has no written physical action. Basically a script that makes no sense. We had to inject our own sense by creating the characters, the situation, and the back-story of the scene, taking extra care to map out the actors’ objectives.
The dialogue we were given is below: A: It’s been a long time B: Yeah. A: I never expected to see you here B: You got a cigarette? A: Some things never change B: You look pretty good, considering A: Flattery B: There you go |
Backwards Thinking
